14th October update - restoration of gas supply
We have resorted gas supply across Jersey. All customers who can self-restore can now get gas in their property and our teams of engineers are across the island working to get all customers gas back on.
Thank you all very much for your patience and understanding as we have been dealing with this issue. We know how frustrating it has been, but your safety must be our priority.
If you are a customer who can self-restore
IT IS IMPORTANT TO FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS OF HOW TO DO THIS. If you haven’t already received a letter with the instructions, they are on our website https://islandenergy.je/self-gas-restoration
You can now turn on your gas supply at the Emergency Control Valve (ECV)
You can start using the gas again in your property. If you have not already received instructions on how to do this, they are on our website https://islandenergy.je/self-gas-restoration
If you do not want to turn the gas on yourself there is a form on our website, and we will get an engineer to visit you. https://islandenergy.je/engineer-gas-restore-form
Please note
Because the gas supply has been turned off, you may experience a delay upon turning it back on. This is normal. Please leave ten minutes for the gas to restore before turning on your appliances.
If after ten minutes you can still smell gas, turn the emergency control valve off again, go outside of your property and call our gas escape number immediately: 01534 755555. Do not try to turn any appliances back on.
If you try to turn on your emergency control valve (ECV) before we've restored gas to your area there is no safety risk, you simply won’t have gas supply.
Customers who need an engineer visit
We have engineers working all weekend to get your gas supply back on. If you have missed our engineers, they will return to try to restore your gas supply.
If you’d prefer there is a form on our website https://islandenergy.je/engineer-gas-restore-form that you can fill out to book your visit or call us on 01534 755500. Please do not turn on your gas supply yourself.
