8th October Update 2 - Interruption to gas supply
We’re continuing to work on the restoration plan to get the gas network back up and running. As we’ve outlined there are strict procedures we need to follow to make sure we introduce gas back into the system in a controlled and safe manner. This has to happen in stages to ensure the safe introduction of gas back into the system. This means that from Tuesday we will start to bring customers back onto supply, a process that will likely take several days to fully complete.
We appreciate your patience in helping us deal with this issue and in terms of number of customers affected of the 4,500 customers we have across Jersey just under half of these are heating and hot water customers. Approximately 1,200 of these customers have a combination boiler which means they won’t have any alternative means of getting hot water.
We have 400 commercial customers, and they are a mix of hot water and cooking. Our engineers have already visited our commercial customers and visiting domestic customers continues through today.
We’re working closely with the States of Jersey Police and the Government to ensure that any vulnerable priority customers, and commercial customers including; schools, hospitals and care homes are dealt with first.
