8th October Update: Interruption to gas supply in Jersey
We have isolated and fixed the issue at our plant in Jersey. A software error triggered the safety procedure which shut down the plant, which it will do if there is any risk to the network, ensuring that we are safe. This issue has now been fixed and we are working on the restoration plan to get the gas network back up. We’re working closely with the States of Jersey, the Police and mobilising all our staff and getting additional resources from the UK to get to customers as soon as we can.
As we’ve outlined there are strict procedures we need to follow to make sure we introduce gas back into the system in a controlled and safe manner. The restoration plan must be deployed in stages to ensure the safe introduction of gas back into the system. We are targeting to commence restoration of supplies from Tuesday, a process that will likely take several days to fully complete.
We are prioritising our vulnerable and commercial customers so if you are concerned about a neighbour or relative, please call: 01534 755500
The safety of our customers is paramount, and we thank you for your patience while we continue to work through our plans, we will keep everyone updated regularly and will issue further information at 5:00pm today.
